Athlone Town make the journey south east to Ferrycarrig Park, Wexford looking to build on last weeks win over Waterford FC. Kick off is scheduled for 8.00pm.
Last weeks win by Athlone Town over a Waterford side put together by Swindon chairman Lee Power with the intentions of instant promotion was a shock to many but over the course of the 90 minutes Athlone deserved it based on real chances created despite Waterford having a large majority of the possession. The result showed that early in this season is possibly the best time to play Waterford FC before the group of players they have on their books blend into a major force that they will become in this division.
Wexford FC on the other hand secured a point in St Colemans Park against Cobh Ramblers in the 90th minute when Lee Duffy headed home a Shane Dunne corner into the net.
ferrycarrig Park has not been a happy hunting ground for Athlone over the last number os years with their last wins at the ground coming in the league winning year where they secured two wins both ending 2-0 with 2015 when they last played in the league showing a 2-0 and 3-0 win for Wexford. Despite this overall stats show its honours even with 6 wins each along with draws since Wexford FC (as Wexford Youths) entered the league in 2007.
Wexford FC report a full squad available for selection while at the time of this article Athlone Town have not given any team news on any of their information platforms
